Sh*t Happens

It's just one of those days that you really don't happen in real life that you only see happen on sitcoms, but today was just one of those days where nothing just goes your way. Considering it is tax season so I really don't have the time to blog about what I've been up to but today was just one of those days where you just have to rant about it.

9:00 AM - Woke up to hear that a crook broke into my parent's shop through the office window, which is pretty dumb because it's a sweat shop so obviously there's nothing of value in there besides womens' clothing. There's no cash, there's no computer equipment, there's nothing. The dumb crook actually thought the golden Buddha statue was made of real gold so he decided to snatch that but once he brought it outside, he realized it was not made out of gold so he left it infront of the shop.

9:15 AM - Blanked out and forgot to stop at the bank to deposit some checks so I had to backtrack and head back to the bank.

9:30 AM - Stuck in traffic on the way to work because of a two cars decided to get into a car accident on the freeway and once I passed the accident, one of the debris decided to lodge itself into my front tire and thus I had a flat tire. Luckily the car was able to still drive fine on the freeway and was really unnoticeable but I knew something was wrong because the tire light popped up and I was not moving as fast as I should be. Unlike my previous busted tires while driving on my other cars, this flat was really pleasant because the drive didn't become rocky like my previous experiences.

10:00 AM - Made my exit and turned right into the tire shop. The tire dude went to check if he could repair the tire but the debris made a huge gash in the tire so it was busted beyond repair so I had to get a new tire.

11:00 AM - Coworker stole my client.

12:00 PM to 7:00 PM - Clients kept on wanting to make changes to their taxes because they did not want to owe any taxes or wanted a bigger refund.

7:30 PM - Still stuck with a fat tax bill.

9:00 PM - Went to wash the towels and found out that somehow the laundry detergent spilled all over the top of the washer machine so now there's a big soapy mess.

12:00 AM - Parents came home so now I can't watch any anime.

12:30 AM - Booked the room for Vegas and got 3 nights comp. :)

Haiyan Typhoon Changes Course

I didn't really follow the news surrounding the Haiyan typhoon until I overhead at a party that the typhoon was heading towards my island but luckily averted and changed course. If it had hit the island then the whole population would have died because there is nowhere to hide and nowhere to go since the closet place around would be a 6 hour boat ride to the mainland but only if conditions allowed the trek. The last resort option would be to pay for a chartered helicopter but even that is not an easy task since you need special permission but luckily my parents were able to hitch a ride one time when they were stuck on the island due to typhoon season. Last I heard, the death toll was around 1,600 Filipinos but now I hear the estimate could be over 10,000 because like 5,000 was from one island alone. Catastrophe after catastrophe and this is all because of what mankind has done to the world. The end of civilization would either be brought on by either mankind or the impact that mankind has done to nature.

Taeyang's Ringa Linga

The Korean Usher is finally back with his newly released single, Ringa Linga. It's a much different style than from his first album which is reflected by his attire. This flashy wild trend of fashion is fairly common with members of YG, which for my taste is great for music videos but for everyday style is just over the top and tacky. I like the clean cut and well dressed Taeyang from the Wedding Dress days better than present rope dread and ghetto street kid Taeyang. I think that's the peculiar thing about Kpop style, when they debut they are either dressed cute or well dressed in suit and tie but for their next album, they tend to go more urban or wild color patterns which seems fairly childish to me. I would expect as you grow then you should be more mature in your style and music because nothing is more creepy than old people trying to dress like teens.

In other news, being the shopaholic that I am for snow swag, I spotted a sale on thermal linings so I snagged up a few for my mom, sister and myself. I was going to buy a pair for my sister in law until I remembered I know nothing about her. I did not know her size or build so I decided to forgo a pair for her although it would of been a good article of clothing for her since this will be the first time she will experience a cold winter.

Dear Stranger

The anticipated moment is finally coming although I haven't decided how I should feel about it yet until the day finally arrives. I will finally meet this so called sister in law of mine when my brother comes back from Vietnam. After speaking with my little siblings, it makes sense that we all feel indifferent about this event because we have no connection with my brother's wife. My parents are excited because their first daughter in law is finally coming and they have met and talked to her plenty of times whereas we have no clue about anything about her nor spoke to her before. The way I see it is that they have been married for a few years now knowing that one day she will be moving here and yet neither my brother nor herself made any attempt to speak with any of us. If she doesn't give a flying fug about us then we shouldn't care about her either and my idiot brother never even spoke about her to us either so basically she's nothing more than a stranger. I understand my brother is not the type of person that is capable of speaking or expressing his feelings but we should once hear from him that his wife name is blah blah because we all know her name isn't my brother's wife. After my father picked me up from the airport, we were discussing a few things and he just had to point out that I should be nice to her. I could care less about her at this moment and I can play nice as long as she doesn't get in my way because I run this bish, this is my house. However, hearing my mother speaking with her over the phone, she seems either soft spoken or as ignorant as my brother. I had always wanted a verbally strong woman for him because he can't seem to do that for himself so we'll see how they complement each other. 30 Awesome Photos

Girl's Generation Beat Justin Bieber, One Direction, Lady Gaga

The first ever YouTube Music Award was hosted by YouTube, which the winners were determined by the fans by the power of likes and sharing on YouTube. The video of the year award went to Korea's national favorite, Girl's Generation, thus upsetting the American horde of Beliebers, Directioners, and Monsters. It's a bit sad at how ignorant Americans are to different cultures by calling others a nobody just because they don't know who they are. Even other nations know who American artists are and not only just the most popular ones either and yet Americans have no clue who is big outside of their nation. But putting everything aside, Bieber has about 40 million followers on Twitter which is almost the entire population of South Korea of 50 million people so you can see how much KPop is relevant to the rest of the world outside of Korea. Are KPop fans as crazy as Bieliber fans? Absolutely and in some cases even worse such as for EXO, but their fans are dedicated to their idols as shown by their landslide victory over America's big 3. Even if they had combined the big 3's votes, their total still would not have beaten Girl's Generation so kudos to Psy and Girl's Generation for representing the outside world. As for the award show, it was a disappointment and not well planned out so maybe they can learn from their mistake and make a better show next year.

Say it ain't so! My lovely cutie Kim Bum is actually dating co-star Moon Geun Young! Both of their agencies has confirmed that the two are officially dating since working together on their TV drama. It makes me so sad because he's such a cutie and she's so not. There are speculations that it could be a publicity stunt for their drama since he is younger than her by 2 years and you know how netizens are crazy about age differences. Then of course there's the noway she's way too ugly for him so I guess her personality makes up for it plus corrective surgery. It's sad to see my favorite Korean eye candy cub be taken away by another cougar but it's all good as long as he keeps showing off those adorable dimples.

Skydiving vs Base Jumping vs Bungee Jumping

An acquaintance was asking for some thrill ideas before he went back into the workforce so we had a discussion on what would be considered thrilling. He has gone skydiving before so that was out of the picture and other ideas of mine were out because of the price tag or danger which includes paragliding because you need training and your own equipment, flyboarding because instruction and rental costs were expensive, and canyon swinging because it's been banned since people saw the cool clip on YouTube and decided to test the thrill out but failed to make the correct calculations in the rope line and swung to their deaths so dying was out of the picture. But what is scary and what is thrilling?

Skydiving to me is thrilling but not very scary because you're in tandem with a pro that does all the work and calculations and you're just attached at their crotch for the ride. The pro handles everything and hits the safety precautions for you so you don't have to worry about a thing but to enjoy the ride unless of course you're like that old lady that was slipping out of the harness. The real scare is when you're flying solo where the control is in your hands but you can't do that until you have a few tandem jumps under your belt and your own equipment which is costly. Due to the distance of your fall, there is time to think and figure out a solution in case something goes wrong like when your first chute fails, there's your back up chute and so forth which is why there's not much deaths. A good number of skydivers say that because of the control of the pros, skydiving is not scary and after flying solo after you gain the control the thrill of the scare also goes away. They also said they would never try bungee jumping as a result because of the lack of control makes it too scary.

Base Jumping is more scary because the distance of your fall is less so you have less time to react if something was to go wrong. There is also no such thing as tandem base jumping either so you're on your own which is why novice jumpers are not allowed to try the sport. Well technically you can if you have the equipment but of course doing so would be at your own risk. Base jumping sounds really fun especially if you sport the squirrel suit, but not so much if you fly into a tree or something. Of course there's always the risk of your chute not opening which would result in severe injuries or death. The other risk is because of the distance, the height to pull your chute and the impact of your landing is much more crucial as this guy learned in this very graphic video. Bungee jumping is the scariest thing to skydivers because so many things can go wrong in the short amount of time and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it but to plunge head first to your death but at least it would be instant and over with in a split second when you realize something is wrong. Like base jumping, there's no one to hold your hand and there's no safety net or chute in case something goes wrong like the rope or ratchet breaking or colliding into the surrounding or getting tangled into the line. I would think the highest yet safest bungee jump in the world is the one at Macau Tower because even though it is the highest, they add in extra lines and contraptions to ensure safety which in a sense takes the scariness out of it. You have your usual bungee line then you have a safety line that keeps you in control from running into the building itself but also slows down your fall towards the end.

Even if Running Man is a scripted variety show, it's still hilarious to watch the cast torment Gwang Soo. It's also great how he's a good sport about it too which is probably why he has a huge fan base especially in Vietnam. I think variety shows in Korea are gaining a huge following because they have a solid cast and continuously have celebrities and idols as guests on their show, which allow their shows to have a long running. Whereas American variety shows lack a solid cast and celebrities are too good for the shows to appear on it unless the cast is full of celebrities. I like the idea that Korean celebrities and idols are willing to embarrass themselves on national television to entertain the fans. Viewers are able to see their celebrities and idols in a different light as a real person. You won't catch celebrities on American variety shows willing to undergo the same humility especially with little pay. I wished I could take part in a variety show one day, it looks like so much fun.

It's Not What You Say But How You Say It

Certainly everyone has the right to free speech and to say whatever is on their mind, but that doesn't mean that everyone should literally speak what is on their mind. There has to be a balance between what you can say and what you should say. Some people tend to lack the rationality to differentiate between the two whether they are oblivious of the matter or they just don't give a flying nuck about it. The reason why people should be more away of what they say because words can cut sharp as knives, but more importantly how you say your remark because of the portrayal of the feeling you're exerting from the words that are being spoke of like what they say, actions are louder than words. For instance, saying the sentence "I like Dave better" to someone can have multiple impact. Calm manner: "I like Dave better," can give a neutral response at their desire for the companionship of Dave, thus resulting in feelings being a little hurt but you'll survive and depart on a positive note. Enthusiastic manner: "I like Dave better!" can give either a disappointed or positively supportive response, thus resulting in momentarily heartbroken or exciting feelings. Melancholy manner: "I like Dave better..." can give disappointed or heartbroken response, thus resulting in a dark and cloudy atmosphere. Sharp manner: "I LIKE DAVE BETTER!" can give a antagonistic or jilted response, thus resulting in hurt feelings and utter anger as you turn away and respond with eff you too. I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt that they did not mean to say things how they did, but that's how you portrayed yourself to the audience and yes, you're a douchebag. I have no issues with people speaking their mind, but do mind the manner in which you say things because you can hurt or anger your audience when you did not mean to. A simple misunderstanding can be a the deciding factor between a connection between two people. Some people literally take what someone said for how they said it and have resented that person for decades when all along that person did not mean to say what was said in that particular manner. If you truly value your friends and family then you should mind how you say things because when some things are lost, they are forever lost.

No Excuses

Apparently Broken Promise is still in denial of having a poor lapse in judgement years ago. I'm so beyond caring about the past but if you want to bring it up then of course I'm going to turn into a raging hamster with rabies with an uncontrollable twitch. I understand people could suffer from memory loss from heavily bodily trauma but I do not think it should be used to justify your past actions by claiming that's not how you remember things happening. First of all, if you're going to state that your memory is messed up because of trauma then don't try to tell me that your version of a memory is more accurate than mine. Second, if I'm the one raging about this bit of memory then obviously I would remember the event quite well. Third, you're an idiot. In other news, I've just been really busy with work. It's funny because I was laid off from my other job but a week prior, I was offered a job so things just happened to worked its way out on its own and for the better. I was tired of my old job because my boss was knowledgeable in the field but he just never really spent the time to teach me much. He was always busy teaching his freshly imported wife who's half his age the ropes instead. Also, the pay was crap. So I was happy to leave my old job without having to quit and join up with a relative. I'm already learning and doing more than I did at my old place and I even already got an increase in pay. I just couldn't believe how my path was so easily chosen and laid out for me. Needless to say, it was perfect timing. Only downside is that I have to work on Saturdays too so that does cut into my boarding time. My brothers, cousin and I went boarding for the first time at Big Bear this season because Thrive Snowboard was having a demo event so we were able to get lift tickets for half price. The only downside was that there was no fresh pow because it's been hot for awhile so the condition was nothing but ice. I ended up with some bruised knees because I forgot to wear knee pads and Lan ended up with a huge bruise on his elbow. Lan and I finally got to try out our new boards, which were awesome by the way. Although he already damaged his board because he ran into Raymond, Thrive community member, on our first ride down at the lift. Raymond's new Thrive board also got damaged because of that too. I didn't get to hang out much with the Thrive guys but they all easily knew who I was, damn it~

Sword Art Online

I've been on an anime binge and one of my top current anime to watch is Sword Art Online. Story is about a new VRMMO called Sword Art Online that just finished beta and became released, but the players soon found out that the maker of the game removed the log out button so now the only way to leave the game is to finish the game. However, if you die in the game then you die in real life too. The story revolves around a boy who is skilled at games and his journey to beat the game. He's a soloist at first but eventually he starts to warm up to others. The story hits a nerve and is a good psychological mix between the real world and the virtual world. The art style reminds me of Working!! so it was pleasant to watch. If you haven't seen it then you should totally watch it!

Technology Mental Strain

Everywhere you look nowadays, a majority of your home devices contain a microchip from your clock to your tooth brush to your coffee/tea maker to whatever other device that you use in your daily life. Archaic ways have evolved to automated machines, which we now rely on so much that we have forgotten the basics of life. Technology has advanced at such an exponential rate that it has surpassed the human's capacity to apprehend the technological developments. But has technology improved our lives or has it burdened us with more trouble? Sure, technology could do things for us with the touch of a button, but what do we do when the device fails to respond? We tend to feel helpless and run around like as if it's the end of the world and then conclude that we need to buy a new one, a better one. Nowadays we tend to skip over troubleshooting because technology has dumb down our creativeness. I remember when our NES game didn't worked so for whatever reason we came up with the idea to blow into the game cartridge or insert the game at an angle and voila, the game worked. How did we come up with such an idea? We used our brains and spread the theory through word of mouth. Nowadays, when your game fail to work, you simply dismiss the fact that you could remedy the situation or browse the internet for a solution, but instead you discard the game in the trash and buy a new one. Technology makes information so readily available and yet, we fail to use our resources to find information only because we are just too damn lazy. Technology also causes a mental strain on the population as well because there are so many different technology out there with their own interface or function that after you learn how to use one device, the come out with a different version with newer advances. Soon technology will take over the world and destroy us, maybe not like Terminator style but something close.

Pig vs Pig

The dictionary describes a pig as one who indulges in eating in a pig like fashion. Normally we label someone as a pig by viewing their gluttonous behavior at the dinner table. You know the overly obese person swallowing plate after plate of food in one gulp as if the mesmerizing task was a normal behavior such as breathing air. By judging the level of food consumption in the short amount of time, the lack of table manners, the level of greed for food, the public can justify that this person is in a fact a big fat slobbering pig. But what if the person was of the average size and weight? What if the same person ate at a moderate pace? What if the same person was a woman? If you add all those normal qualities of a woman and top it with a ginormous appetite for food, would society still call her a pig or would society praise her for having such a healthy appetite? If we reverse the gender role to a male, would society turn its tune and immediately call him a gluttonous pig or would society give him big pat on the back and tell him a job well done? If we look at competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, the man is packed with muscles but eats enough to put a buffet out of business even though he doesn't look like someone who can eat like someone who we as society perceive as a pig. Therefore, having an insatiable appetite wouldn't make society label you as a pig because society only cares about labeling people by their outer appearance.

Quality vs Quantity

What qualifies a person to be labeled as a slut? Is it the number of people she banged? Or is it her level of easiness to bang? Or perhaps a combination of both? If we take those qualities into consideration then what about the people who have been in a series of failed relationships? Would society label them as sluts because they have been and laid so many people? Or would society turn a blind eye and say those sexual partners don't count towards the slut meter since they were in a relationship? What if you're in a different relationship every year or even every quarter? The numbers would surely stack up to slut status wouldn't it? The average man would have more sexual partners over their lifetime than the average woman and yet it's always the woman that society talks about as the sleazy ho bag. What kind of a ho are you?

The Oblivious Slut

I do enjoy a good game of people watching because it's always fun to watch people and analyze their behavior in an attempt to assess their life style and everyday behaviors. We all like a good tease, you know the lively person that's always messing around and making innuendo jokes, but you know you're not likely going to tap that ass at the end of the night. However, is it still the same atmosphere if the tease was the infamous town's dirty skank? Highly not because it wouldn't be a tease anymore because at the end of the night, you're likely gonna take that piece of ass home and wake up with crabs and possibly other surprises in the morning. So what makes the difference between the two cockteases? The level of innocence. But how far can one go before one crosses the boundary of moral acceptance? If the branded slut grinds up on her best friend's man then the best friend would more than likely flip out and call her out on it because we all know what type of woman she is, a whore. But is the level of sluttiness really the issue here or is it morally wrong to do the bump and grind with your best friend's man? Would the best friend be acceptable of the circumstance if the grinder in question was not a slut or would it still be morally wrong? Or is it morally acceptable for everyone to just rub up against everyone and just let loose? Nah, there are boundaries in society and if crossed, it brings awkwardness and sometimes even disgust regardless of the offender's awareness of the violation or not. There are some things you should do and some things you should refrain from doing because your act may be innocent but it could possibly carry a different message to other people. You could just brush off what I just said but you really shouldn't especially if the people that it affects is your own group of peers. Try to think before you act because for every action, there will always be a reaction.

Eff the Police!

It's pretty ironic how you can get away with so many things and the time that you aren't deliberately being bad ass and disobeying the rules, you actually get caught in the act! Yes, it's true. I was minding my own business cruising the street and suddenly a motorbike police officer busts around from the other side of the street and peeps me to pull over. Of course, I'm thinking what the hell does he want because I always get pulled over for speeding, running red lights, driving with a dead light, etc and always got away. But no, this anal bastard was like telling me that I was speeding by going approximately 13 miles per hour over the speed limit. Oh wow, it was only a little bit over and besides a lot of other people go way beyond that. I'm sorry but he should be fighting crime and making a real difference instead of standing on the street corner every morning speed checking everyone with his radar gun. Come on, do some real work.
