Don't get me wrong, Garment Worker Center was built to do a great thing for exploited garment workers but one thing that does not support their cause and credibility is the fact that one of probably many of the workers that they represent is manipulating their organization to support their extortion of businesses. For instance, we have one case where a worker who left the accused company voluntarily to live in Texas with one of her child for a couple of years but decides to come back to the company to work. Even though the company had no work, the owners took pity on the woman and allowed her to do some work which she felt was too difficult and left and never came back to pick up her pay. The woman goes to Garment Worker Center claiming she worked all those years and never was paid although everyone knows she was in Texas and never worked. It is unknown if Garment Worker Center knows that she was in Texas the whole time or if they even care if she was or not because everyone wants money that they don't deserve. If Garment Worker Center supports con artists or is the con artist themselves then wouldn't they be the ones exploiting the so called people they are trying to uplift? Hypocrites anyone?
