Dude Looks Like A Lady

So I was at the mall yesterday exchanging a shirt and in comes a couple walking towards the men's jeans section of American Eagle. The girl says outloud, "This is boys jeans," and walks over to the girls section while the guy stayed and looked at the guys section. I could not for the life of me, figure out if the guy was a girl or a boy. I am leaning towards a girl because guys hips aren't that wide although some guys do have wide hips. So it was either a butch girl or a fat dude. It sucks when you can't tell the sex of someone because you can't say miss or sir because if you say the wrong one then you're screwed! Might as well say err instead of taking a guess. If only life was easy like in games, we should have a gender symbol floating on top of our heads so we wouldn't have any of this silly confusion.
