Envy

The History Channel was featuring a show about envy and how it is the 8th sin of the world although we were all brought up to know that there are only 7 sins.  Apparently there was no logic as to why there are 7 sins but there are 7 because the number 7 is a popular pattern to go by so might as well say there are 7 sins.  Go figure.  However, envy is a tool of great magnitude fueled by jealousy of others because it makes you think irrationally and do the unexpected.  They talked about how some dude was the most renown pianist of the time but he was envious of the glory the young Mozart was receiving as a composer.  The dude became a recluse and when Mozart was on his deathbed, he said the dude poisoned him.  Usually when people are envious of someone, they would try to outdo them but in more serious cases people would resort to taking out the competition.

 
Pretty petty!

Sure, we all want to be the best in something although it is optimal if we were the best in all things but that would be the best of all possible worlds and a bit too idealistic because no one is perfect.  However, most people can be open and willing to discuss their envy about most things except for intimate things.  Things that happens in the bedroom is a bit too taboo to talk about with others because they are either ashamed or confident but mostly ashamed because when it comes to the bedroom most people are either such good liars to themselves or such good actors!

It is time that we should be content with what we have instead of yearning about what we don't have because keeping up with the Jones is a bit tiring and in the long run it doesn't make you any happier.  Being envious is normal but we should all learn to not act on it even if you don't think somebody deserves what they have.  Trying to tamper with the flow is just asking for trouble.  Just be happy!
