Cut, Copy, Paste

Individualism is really just a mundane myth that we like to tell ourselves in order to uplift our deteriorating self esteem because the belief of individualism is questionable.  What is individualism?  Individualism is described as:

n.
    1. Belief in the primary importance of the individual and in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence.
    2. Acts or an act based on this belief.
    1. A doctrine advocating freedom from government regulation in the pursuit of a person's economic goals.
    2. A doctrine holding that the interests of the individual should take precedence over the interests of the state or social group.
    1. The quality of being an individual; individuality.
    2. An individual characteristic; a quirk.
With that being said, we tend to think we are individuals and pride ourselves on being individuals by believing we are our own unique person because there is no one else like us in the world.  If that is true then why are we so easily influenced by everything and everyone?  We base our choices on what everyone else is doing as the sea of trend changes so do we and our tastes such as the new fall fashion.  Remember back when skinny jeans and leggings were so fashionably lame but now it's the hot new trend.  Why?  Because everyone else is doing it.  You can't really say you are your own unique individual when your choice of being your own person is by copying others.  We tend to take bits of pieces of multiple mediums and try to pass it on as our own but that is really just a lie because we are all liars.
